The process is simple and fast – and in most cases, documents are ready for printing in just a few minutes. Home Owners
The new warranty system provides the opportunity for Specifiers, Builder or Installers to provide you with a pre-approved warranty. If you have been given a Pre-Approved warranty notification, you simply create an account in the system and activate your warranty with your unique activation code. Alternatively, you can enter the details of your project in the simple step by step process, creating the warranty yourself. Note the warranty must be generated after the installation is complete. See our guide of what information is needed to create your own warranty.
Specifier, Builders & Installers
The new warranty system provides the opportunity for you to generate a pre-approved warranty for your customers. Creating a specifier account allows you to generate a pre-approved warranty up to 18 months before a project will be complete. The system generates a notification that you can pass onto your customer with their activation code. They simply confirm the project details to obtain their final warranty certificate. Product Performance Warranties
In addition to BlueScope Steel’s material warranties, some of the manufacturers that transform our material into the end-use products in and around your home also offer product performance warranties, to provide you with assurance that their products will perform as expected when installed. BlueScope Steel recommend that you talk to your supplier about the details of any performance warranties they may offer.

- For COLORBOND® steel residential gutters and downpipes installed prior to 04/08/2008, the warranty covers for 12 years against corrosion to perforation, and 12 years against paint flake & peel (ie delamination), for installations greater than 200m from salt marine influence. For these installations please view our page: Warranties for Installations Prior to 04/08/2008.
- For COLORBOND® steel residential gutters and downpipes installed subsequent to 04/08/2008, the warranty covers for 12 years against corrosion to perforation, and 12 years against paint flake & peel (ie delamination), for installations greater than 200m from salt marine influence, and 20 years against corrosion to perforation, and 20 years against paint flake & peel (ie delamination), for installations greater than 1km from salt marine influence.
- For COLORBOND® steel residential gutters, fascia and downpipes installed subsequent to 01/07/2011, BlueScope Steel offers a warranty of up to 20 years against corrosion to perforation by weathering in the natural elements. BlueScope Steel also warrants for up to 20 years from date of installation that the paint system on COLORBOND® steel will not flake or peel due to weathering in the natural elements when used as Eave Gutters and Downpipes ONLY.
- Where COLORBOND® Stainless steel and COLORBOND® Ultra steel are used in their recommended environments, BlueScope Steel offers a warranty for corrosion to perforation by weathering in the natural elements for a period of up to 12 years from the date of intallation. BlueScope Steel also warrants that the paint system on COLORBOND® Stainless steel and COLORBOND® Ultra steel will not flake or peel due to natural weathering for a period of up to 12 years from the date of installation.
